Art session - Still Life Drawing

 Stage 1: Starting the 2D still life drawing






Why make still life drawingsStill life will make you overall better at drawing. They are a great way to practice creating shapes and building three-dimensional forms through shading techniques of realistic lighting. Observation is one of the most important skills that is exercised in still life drawings.

Auckland Zoo School Trip














 On Monday 10th May we had an amazing time at the Auckland Zoo for our school trip. We had an educational, inspirational and fun trip! 

"We learnt the adaptations of the animals" said Sufyan.

"Flamingos are pink because they eat shrimps!" said Alisa.

"We learnt about their habitats" said Kevin.

"We learnt that giraffes can camouflage themselves in the Savana" said Brooklyn.

"My group saw a massive rat in the Cheetah enclosure!" said Dylan.

"Spider Monkeys live in the rainforest and they need their tail as they use it as an extra hand!" said Mason.

"Also, Spider Monkeys have no thumbs so that it doesn't get in the way when they climb and they swing by their tail" said Daniel.

"We also learnt about the animals habits" said Alana.

"The male ostrich  has black feathers so it can camouflage at night and the female ostrich has grey feathers so they can camouflage in the day" said Ryan.

"Meerkats can climb very well" said Katelyn.

"Meerkats have special claws and they can't feel the hot sand in the desert." said Mia.

"I learnt that certain animals, like zebras, have different patterns on their bodies to confuse the flies" said Madeline.

"Asian elephants are way smaller than the African elephants" said Mason.

"One of the rhinos had cuts on the body!" said Dylan.

"Zebras have all got different patterns on them, they are not all the same!" said Mason.
